We took J&R's camp trailer out two weekends ago for a little summer fun....our first time out this season. Headed to Grover Hot Springs, just a short 1 1/2 hour drive from home. With all the gloomy weather we've had the past couple of weeks we were pleasantly surprised not to be bombarded with too much rain. Of course, the worse weather we saw was when we were trying to set up camp. By the time we had everything set up however, the skies were clearing (go figure) so we headed out to the meadow for a little treasure hunting.

And boy what a beautiful view!

When we returned it was time for some supper, then a little campfire and roasted marshmallows, of coarse.

We're not quite in the swing of things yet however, as we forgot to pack a package of Rollo's. If you've never tried putting a Rollo inside your marshmallow you don't know what you're missing! Although I think she could care less.

The following morning we did a little day hiking on a trail that lead us to another treasure. Although we did end up carrying the girls a little, they made most of the .5 mile hike by themselves....troopers! What we didn't expect to realize is how OLD our dogs are getting. Sure, Mia is nearly 12 years old, and Rosie 10. But they've always had so much energy, and loved being in the outdoors. They're exhausted demeanor sure were an eye opener for Brian and I....let's just leave it at that!
Later that afternoon, after a much needed family nap, we headed up to the hot springs pool. I like to call it camping with benefits! Not to mention, we met a very sweet little family there from the Bay Area, including their 3 year old daughter Lilly. The kids had a great time playing...what luck!

We took it easy the next morning....just a little walk around the park, then packed up and headed home by mid-afternoon. Okay, I digress, maybe this had something to do with why the hounds were so pooped!

Made sure to stop and purchase a milkshake somewhere in Carson City. I don't know why, but milkshakes never taste as good as they do when you're on your way home from a camping trip. Agree?
